Vicki's Machine Knit Slippers

Keyplate 3

1 strand Worsted Weight yarn

Crochet cast on 22 stitches.  Do first row by hand back to left position.  Attach carriage and knit 8 more rows (9 total).  This makes the cuff.  When carriage is on right side, crochet cast on 26 more stitches.  Do next row by hand back to left side position.  Do 51 more rows (52 rows total), depending on how big around you want them.  From right hand position, cast off 26 stitches.  Knit 9 rows for cuff.  Cast off.  After you bind off, you should have a long piece of yarn on the toe side of cuff.  Use this to sew top seam, and then run around the stitches of the toe, and draw up tightly to gather.  Place a few stitches to secure.  Sew up back seam.  Weave in ends.

Alternate cuff:

Knit 5 rows at beginning for cuff, and end with 5 rows for cuff at end.  After stitching up, attach yarn at back of heel, and using an H hook, crochet 1-3 rows around the top of the cuff.  Finish off and work in ends.
