Reversible Knit Hat

Designed for the Bond knitting machine

Worsted Weight Yarn

Gauge is 4 stitches/ 6 rows = 1"

CO with WY 74 sts (fits avg. person)

K even for 135-140 rows depending on how big a hem you like, but I wouldn't go over 140.

This is where you get to decide what color to make your hat.  The first 35 rows are the top of one side of the hat.  The next 65 rows will be the body of the hat and the folded back hem for both sides then 35 rows for the other side of the top of the hat.

These are all approximate figures. You may have to make one first to learn exactly where to change your color schemes.

After you've knit 135-140 rows even you begin to decrease
Decrease Row:  Transfer every other stitch to the needle beside it. Knit 1 row even.
*Repeat decrease row, knit 1 row even Now thread needle and pull thru remaining stitches, remove from machine and pull up tight.*

Rehang 74 stitches from bottom, putting 2 sts on each needle, (If you leave an empty needle between each one it works out better.)
Knit one row.
Repeat from * to * as on other end of hat above.

You will now have two gathered ends.  Sew edges together forming a tube.  Fold the hat inside itself at the middle.  Now you have a two layered stocking hat.  When you fold up the hem you will have 4 layers at your ears.  I sew the two gathered tops to each other so they will stay
together.
