Aunt Pat's Knit Slippers  

Gauge: 3 ½ sts = 1”, 5 Rows = 1”
Materials: 5 oz of 4 ply worsted weight yarn
Size 10 needles

With 2 strands of yarn, cast on 46 sts.

Row 1: * Knit
Row 2; * Knit 8, Purl 30, Knit 8
Repeat these two rows for 24 rows.

Rows 25-26: Bind off 8 sts at beginning of row.

Row 27: Dec 1 st at beginning of row (29 sts)

Row 28: Dec 1 st at beginning of row (28 sts)

If you wish, knit the next row onto double pointed needles
and continue the knitting in rounds.
Distribute the stitches as follows:
*Needle 1: 10 sts
*Needle 2: 8 sts
*Needle 3: 10 sts

Rows (or rounds) 29-42: Work even in pattern.
 

TOE SHAPING:

Row (or round) 1: K2 *K2 tog, K6* repeat between *’s twice, K8 (25 sts)

Row (or round) 2, 4, 6 and 8: Purl even (or knit even if working in rounds)

Row (or round) 3: K2 *K2 tog, K5* repeat between *’s twice, K7 (22 sts)

Row (or round) 5: K2 *K2 tog, K4* repeat between *’s twice, K6 (19 sts)

Row (or round) 7: K2 *K2 tog, K3* repeat between *’s twice, K5 (16 sts)

Cut yarn leaving an 8” tail. Thread this tail into a tapestry needle
and pull yarn through remaining 16 sts.  Pull tight and tie o
ff.

Sew up back heel and front ankle/top seams.
